what is Pay It Forward.
The Pay It Forward initiative is one of our original activities designed to recognise and acknowledge an individual who may be feeling isolated or undervalued, or perhaps someone deserving a little bit of acknowledgement.
The concept is simple: Frontliners can be nominated to receive an Aussie Frontline shirt via our website. We don’t need to know why they’ve been nominated, we’re happy for anyone who deserves a gesture of support to be put forward.

pay it forward.
The person who nominates them can choose the size and colour shirt, and provide the details of where it needs to go, and that’s it. We cover the cost via sponsors who have bought a shirt to go into the initiative, and we send it on its way.
The recipient won’t even know they’ve been nominated until it arrives, making it a nice surprise. They’ll also received a personalised note from the Aussie Frontline team, a note from the person who nominated them if one is provided, and we let them know which service the person who sponsored the shirt is a member or veteran of.
On the surface it may be ‘just a shirt’, but the reality is it’s much more than that, and having sent out well over 600 of these shirts to date, to recipients in all states and territories across Australia, we know what a difference it can make.

This firefighter, Dan, donated an Aussie Frontline tee back for us to ‘pay it forward’ to a member of the frontline community. To honour Dans wish, we reached out to our (at that time small) Instagram following – seeking private nominations to identify a member who might benefit from this act of kindness. Not only was a recipient nominated by a caring frontline member, but another member of the frontline community on the opposite side of the country came forward with a spontaneous offer to cover the cost of shipping the shirt.
What followed was a series of contacts from frontline members offering to sponsor further shirts and postage for other members in need of support. We were so inspired by the outpouring of generosity and goodwill from this community we sought to create a system to facilitate their kindness on an ongoing basis. And so, the Aussie Frontline Pay It Forward program grew organically from the intense desire of the frontline community to look after one another.
